This portfolio represents two years of my life, a journey and a learning experience. The destination and outcome were impossible to see from the beginning.
Throughout these two years I would often have to explain what I was doing - a Master's in Sustainable Design.. To this reply I would often get a questionable look and "What is that?" "Is that about recycling or something green?" I'm not sure my responses were completely satisfying. Part of the reason was because I was in the middle of learning and describing it for myself.
The most exciting part was discovering the complexity and connectedness of the design process. Once it was just considered a way to decorate, make something pretty or engineer something mechanical.. It's true that design embraces beauty along with a drive to conceptually visualize and create; but combined with sustainability, systems thinking and design thinking, a whole new world opened up.
